A California-born fast-casual restaurant with an emphasis on affordable, healthy fare is planning two locations in Dallas: LYFE (that's Love Your Food Everyday) Kitchen currently has locations in Palo Alto and Culver City, California, with plans to expand to Chicago and Dallas soon.
According to Eater LA, LYFE is headed up by "two former big deal McDonald's execs," Mike Roberts and Mike Donahue. The menu was consulted on by vegan chef Tal Ronnen and soul food king Art Smith, and everything on the menu clocks in at 600 calories or less (a la Seasons 52), with dishes ranging from tofu wraps and "ancient grain pancakes" for breakfast to grass-fed burgers, "unfried" chicken and grilled fish in kimchi broth; there are also separate menus for the gluten-free and vegan sects.
