The West Village has a new caffeination station: Sip Stir Cafe opened its doors last week right next to fro-yo shop Yumilicious. In contrast to the nearby Starbucks that's dark and cozy, Sip Stir has an airy, almost spa-like feel with a white, spring green and blonde wood color scheme and fresh flowers.
According to Teresa Gubbins of CultureMap, Sip Stir "has an artillery of fancy brewing devices, including a La Marzocco espresso machine, two Kyoto-style iced-coffee drip machines, and a Siphon vacuum-style coffee maker." Beans hail from a Los Angeles micro-roaster called J. Gursey (who claim to purchase "only the top half percent of the world's finest green coffees and [utilize] a proprietary roasting process"), while the pastries are trucked in from La Spiga Bakery in Addison.
Sip Stir is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
