Nammi Truck Opening To-Go Spot at Valley View Mall

One of the city's oldest and most loved food trucks is going brick and mortar — sorta. Gary Torres and Teena Nguyen, the dynamic duo behind the two Nammi trucks (as well as the Dallas outpost of the Coolhaus ice cream sandwich truck) are opening a restaurant inside Valley View Center which they tell SideDish will be "actually more of a to-go than a restaurant."

While Nammi is perhaps best known for its banh mi sandwiches, the trucks also serve Vietnamese tacos and rice bowls, plus some pretty killer basil lemonade; the duo tells SideDish they plan to add new menu items at the brick & mortar, which will serve as a "test kitchen" of sorts.

Though the "midtown" mall has certainly seen better days, it seems to be drawing plenty of new tenants: Dallas Farmers Market fixture Aint No Mo' Butter Cakes also opened an additional location at Valley View Center recently.
