The Untapped Festival, a celebration of indie beer and indie music, will return for its second year on September 7th at Gilley's at the South Side Ballroom (formerly the Palladium Ballroom).
This year's festivities will include 200-plus beers from 70 different breweries, including locals Deep Ellum Brewing Co., Rahr & Sons, Community Beer Company, Lakewood Brewing, Martin House, Peticolas, Revolver, and oh, so many more, plus eight musical acts including Blackalicious and Delta Spirit. (Last year's event was held outdoors at Trinity Groves, so this year's attendees can look forward to approximately 200 percent less sunburns.)
The Untapped crew is also expanding its reach with a new event called Canned that will be held in downtown Denton on October 15th. Canned will showcase 50 varieties of craft beer cans (duh) from over 25 different breweries, as well as seven indie bands including Menomena from Portland, Oregon.
Ticketing info can be found here for Untapped and here for Canned (be advised that last year's Untapped was a sell-out event). Ticket holders for each event are entitled to 12 two-ounce beer samples; if that's not sufficient to quell your beer demons, tickets for additional samples can be purchased on-site.
