Sugary-sweet Sprinkles Ice Cream opens its ultra-mod doors this Friday in Preston Center, right next door to older sibling Sprinkles Cupcakes. Daily rotating flavors of ice cream made with all-organic dairy include everything from red velvet (with chunks of cupcakes and swirls of frosting right in the mix) and Cap'n Crunch to malted milk chocolate, rocky road and salty caramel.
As for how to get the ice cream into your mouth, there are plenty of different options: Get your scoops in a paper cup adorned with various toppings including salted butterscotch sauce, chocolate shell or crumbled cupcakes; in a fresh-baked red velvet waffle cone; as part of a cupcake sundae; in an ice cream sandwich made with unfrosted cupcake tops or house-baked cookies in flavors like peanut butter pretzel chip and salted oatmeal cornflake; or in a shake or malt with the option of having an entire cupcake blended into it.
Sprinkles Ice Cream opens at noon on Friday; Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson will be on hand from 3 to 5 p.m. to scoop ice cream and chat with fans. (Regular hours will be noon to 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and noon to midnight Thursday through Saturday.)
