Expect the Design District's restaurant boom to continue in a major way: A massive mixed-use development at the corner of Oak Lawn and Dragon Street will reportedly include at least four new restaurants.
The Dallas Design District blog reports that the only restaurant specifically named is Saint Ann (developer Harwood International is also responsible for Saint Ann and Mercat Bistro at their master-planned Harwood district in Uptown) and the other three "include an Indian restaurant, a Latin concept and an Asian restaurant." Those four spots have already been leased; there's also reportedly plans for a Mediterannean restaurant and a sushi spot in the works. The development, which will also include plenty of retail, apartments, and possibly an "urban market," is slated to be finished by 2015. UPDATE: Harwood International reached out to Eater to clarify that their upcoming Design District project will "not necessarily" be another Saint Ann, but will in fact be "another restaurant concept by Harwood International."
The Design District's already impressive restaurant lineup includes hot spots FT33, Oak, gastropub the Meddlesome Moth, newcomer Pakpao Thai, and chic coffeehouse Ascension; more casual joints The Slow Bone, Off-Site Kitchen, and Mama's Daughters Diner also reside nearby on Irving Boulevard.
