Long-Awaited Alamo Drafthouse Soft-Opens Tonight in Richardson

Highly anticipated Austin export Alamo Drafthouse finally opens its doors tonight at Central Expressway and Belt Line Road in Richardson with seven screens, a menu of food that goes well beyond what you'll find at most movie theatre concession stands, an in-house bar called Glass Half Full with plenty of craft beer and cinema-themed cocktails, and a strict no cell phone usage policy (thank goodness).

Alamo is known for showing not just big Hollywood blockbusters, but also plenty of indie movies and older films of note; for example, tonight new releases We're the Millers and Elysium are going up against revivals of Short Circuit and Logan's Run. Most are already sold out, but tickets are still available via Alamo's website for some post-10 p.m. showings. As a major bonus, all food items are 50 percent off until August 15th (scope out the full menu, which includes everything from green chile queso and burgers with house-baked buns to adult milkshakes, right over here).
