Eighteen months after opening, Sissy's Southern Kitchen is finally hopping on the brunch train.
Owner Lisa Garza says via press release that she's wanted to offer brunch for some time, but "needed time after opening and rolling out lunch to perfect each signature brunch dish," including fried chicken and waffles with honey butter; an eggs Benedict variation with a lump crabcake and cornbread muffin; biscuits with black pepper cream gravy; and chicken and dumplings.
Brunch cocktails will include the expected mimosa carafes, plus grapefruit juleps and Tito's screwdrivers.
If you're thinking the down-home Southern fare and screened-in porch at Sissy's will make for the perfect lazy Sunday meal, think again — brunch will only be served on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning September 21 (the restaurant will remain closed on Sundays, as it has been from the beginning).
