DEEP ELLUM—The same folks who brought you the North Texas Taco Festival are throwing BurgerFest this Saturday in conjunction with the Deep Ellum Outdoor Market. Scope it out between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Main Street between Good-Latimer and Crowdus; restaurants including Maple & Motor, Stackhouse Burgers and Ten Bells Tavern will be serving up sliders and there will be plenty of beer. (Also: admission is free.) [Eaterwire]
FARMERS MARKET—Don't have the patience to queue up for Pecan Lodge this weekend (or just need a snack while you wait in line)? Hit up the nearby Ipanema Cheese Bread stand on Saturday or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. when ten bucks gets you a plate full of Brazilian feijoada, plus black beans, rice, collard greens, cheese bread and sliced oranges. Bonus: it's gluten-free, if you're worried about that whole thing. [Eaterwire]
FAIR PARK—Holy crap the 2013 State Fair of Texas is almost here. The new face of Big Tex will be revealed next Friday, September 27 at 2 p.m.; the fair itself opens for biz at 10 a.m., so get your Lipitor ready. [Eaterwire]
