It's a happy, happy day for all of the city's ramen fanatics: Tanoshii Ramen will fling open its Deep Ellum doors to (what we expect will be) hordes of hungry and impatient noodle-lovers at 5 p.m. today at 2724 Commerce Street. The new venture from husband-and-wife team Joey and Chi Le is the city's very first dedicated ramen shop, and it's about damn time — Houston and Austin have both been playing host to their own ramen crazes for quite some time now.
Now go forth, study the menu below, and prepare to chow down on tonkotsu, spicy miso and shoyu ramen (and/or steamed buns, gyoza, bone marrow, and whatever else your little ramen-craving heart desires). Will Tanoshii live up to the type of lofty expectations that can only come from nine long months of waiting?
