Chino's New Brunch Includes 'Cobra Blood' Cocktails

Chef Uno Immanivong's recently opened Latin-Asian house of fusion Chino Chinatown at Trinity Groves is preparing to launch dim sum brunch on Sundays.

Shareable dim sum-style plates will be offered including steamed buns, chorizo eggrolls and barbacoa steamed dumplings; a very creative brunch cocktail menu by the talented Ian Reilly will include options such as the Coconut Horchata Fizz (gin, lemon, egg, coconut horchata, ginger, jasmine) and the Chingelada, a twist on the classic Michelada made with Modelo Especial, lime and... cobra blood!?

General manager and master of Chino's cocktail menu Ian Reilly explains that "in Thailand, often locals will test tourists' manhood by pouring a shot of Mekhong and bleeding a cobra's open throat into the glass." At Chino, though, the "cobra blood" is actually housemade Bloody Mary mix — so, no need to contact PETA or the health department. Taste it for yourself when Chino's Sunday brunch debuts February 9; the restaurant will also begin serving lunch Monday through Saturday on February 3.
