Here's a more in-depth look inside The Blind Butcher. The new project from the Goodfriend guys has already been packing the house nightly with a curious crowd for drinks and selected samples from the food menu, but as previously discussed it won't actually begin serving its full menu until next Thursday, February 6 — and oh what a menu it is, with items like pastrami eggrolls with housemade mustard, a variety of housemade sausages and charcuterie, and not one but three versions of the Canadian delicacy poutine: pork belly, mushroom, and duck, with the latter including an option to gild the lily with foie gras.
Add all that to an impressive beer list — which also includes "Horseshit Beers" for the less discerning drinkers — and an array of unique-sounding $10 cocktails like The Notary (rye or gin, green Chartreuse, Cointreau and bitters), and the Butcher is clearly one of the most exciting things to emerge from the Lower Greenville boom. For now, sate those foie gras poutine cravings by surveying the photos (check out that olde tyme-y cash register behind the bar) and studying up on those menus.
