The food dudes at Esquire sure do love John Tesar: For the second year in a row, one of the chef's restaurants has made the magazine's annual Best New Restaurants list. It should come as little surprise that the mag's just-announced new restaurant editor, Josh Ozersky, would think highly of Knife — after all, there is a burger called "The Ozersky" on the restaurant's menu. (Last year, then-editor John Mariani awarded Tesar's Preston Center temple of fine seafood, Spoon, one of the coveted spots.)
The full list will be announced tonight at Esquire's awards party being held in NYC; it was revealed earlier today that Ozersky gave top billing to a Harlem restaurant called The Cecil, an apparent move away from "the 'more formal' restaurants Mariani gravitated towards." UPDATE: Scope out the full list of winners on Esquire's website, which includes Austin's Paul Qui for Chef of the Year (and in which Ozersky also proclaims Knife "the steakhouse of the future.")
