Chef Vijay Sadhu and owner Karthik Thambidurai will open "North Texas’ first Indian Ocean coastal cuisine restaurant" early next month on Tennyson Parkway near Preston Road, reports Eats Blog. Your guess is as good as ours as to what exactly "Indian ocean coastal cuisine" will entail, though Sadhu hints to Kim Pierce that the food at Samudraa will include Singaporean and Malaysian flavors; the inclusion of Thai, Indonesian, Burmese, and Indian cuisines would also make sense.
Thambidurai also owns casual Indian restaurant Chennai Cafe, which recently relocated to "a larger space in Frisco" to make way for Samudraa. Sadhu opened the upscale Indian restaurant Sutra at Plano's Shops at Legacy back in 2011, but it shuttered in 2012 and was replaced by Pepper Smash, where the chef cooked until earlier this year.
