The Dallas Morning News just released its annual "Best Chefs in DFW" list, and local legend Stephan Pyles snagged the top honor. "With his incredible energy, boundless creativity and outstanding leadership — for clearly he has excellent teams helping to execute his visions — chef Pyles continues to be a superstar of the Dallas dining scene," writes critic Leslie Brenner, lauding the chef for his new stunner San Salvaje and mentioning that the cooking at Stampede 66 "has become even more impressive recently."
The other nine chefs on the list are a mixture of old school and new: young guns Matt McCallister of FT33, Oak's Brian Zenner, and Casa Rubia's Omar Flores along with veterans like Bruno Davaillon of The Mansion, David Uygur of Lucia, Bijoux's Scott Gottlich, and Teiichi Sakurai of Tei-An, as well as Hibiscus star Graham Dodds and Julian Barsotti of Nonna and Carbone's.
