'Tis the season for peppermint- and eggnog-flavored everything, and true to form, Deep Ellum's Glazed Donut Works is getting in the holiday spirit with some new holiday-themed doughnuts:
- Bourbon Eggnog: a yeast-raised mini bismarck filled with bourbon eggnog custard, iced with bourbon vanilla icing, and sprinkled with nutmeg. (This doughnut has converted at least one avowed eggnog hater: Owner Darren Cameron says via email, "I don't care for eggnog and I LOVE this donut.")
- Deep Ellum Peppermint: a chocolate yeast-raised donut with white chocolate peppermint icing, sprinkled with peppermint candy pieces.
- Sweet Potato Marshmallow: a sweet potato old-fashioned cake doughnut topped with maple icing and housemade marshmallow cream that's torched to a gooey golden brown.
- Pear Stout Molasses Fritter: a fried beauty made with fresh pears, molasses, and Guinness.
Additionally, the doughnut shop has also recently begun serving Dude, Sweet hot chocolate with housemade peppermint marshmallows. Glazed is open for business as usual in the mornings and weekend late-night service, but they anticipate this Friday before Christmas to be crazy busy — so if you have plans to be the office hero, be sure to pre-order on Thursday afternoon.
