BEER WIRE—What's your favorite beer to drink during the holidays? Chef Brian Luscher of The Grape offers a few suggestions, including Lakewood Temptress ("just sexy") and Deep Ellum Brewing Co.'s Chocolate Cherry double brown stout (goes great with dessert). [TxMo]

SOUTH DALLAS—Daniel Vaughn examines the storied history of family-owned Hardeman's Barbecue, which currently has two locations. They have at least one meat offering you probably haven't seen before: "brakes," which are "the day’s trimmings of link ends, ribs too crispy to serve, and burnt ends of brisket. They come in a hefty tub for $3.50." [TMBBQ]

LEWISVILLE—Cobra Brewing will celebrate its first anniversary this Saturday with a party at the brewery from 1-6 p.m. Eleven different beers will be on offer, and the $20 ticket price includes eight half-pours; there will also be "special glassware, music, food trucks, and other vendors on site." Purchase tickets here. [DMN Beer Blog]
