Denton's Future Craft Cocktail Bar Will Serve Kangaroo Nachos

And very reasonably priced drinks.

Hickory & Fry/Facebook

Denton is moving on up in the world: The college town's first microbrewery recently opened, with a new craft cocktail bar right on its heels. Hickory & Fry is brought to you by the folks behind Jack Mac's Swill & Grill, the North Dallas bar known for trail-blazing actions like phasing out macrobrews and refusing to show NFL games until the league fixes its pesky domestic violence problem.

Hickory & Fry will bring a touch of class to the college bar-laden Fry Street with craft cocktails, small plates, and a dog-friendly patio. Don't think you'll find $10 and $12 drinks here, though; after all, this isn't downtown Dallas. Instead, drinks are priced in the very reasonable $5 to $7 range, including both classics like the Rob Roy and the paloma as well as original concoctions such as the Stingray Cafe (spiced rum, housemade coffee liqueur, and almond-coconut milk). Food options will include tuna carpaccio, some very exotic-sounding kangaroo nachos with habanero jam and boysenberry oil, elotes, and tostadas topped with chicken, brisket, or roasted vegetables (scope out the full menu here).

As far as decor goes, expect banquettes with a vintage-y vibe and some very groovy old tap handles behind the bar. Keep an eye on Hickory & Fry's Facebook page to find out when they'll officially open the doors.
