Apheleia Announces Chef for New Mexican Concept in the Design District

A new Mexican restaurant is on its way.

Apheleia Restaurant Group, the local team behind Oak and Pakpao, seems to have set their sights on dominating the Design District. The group's next venue, slated for the GrassRoots building at 1201 Oak Lawn Avenue, will open early next year.

Richard and Tiffanee Ellman and partner John Paul Valverde just announced that they've chosen an executive chef to helm El Bolero, their upcoming Mexican restaurant.

Hugo Galvan, who hails from San Miguel De Allende and worked at the now-shuttered Hacienda San Miguel in Fort Worth and Dallas' Cafe San Miguel, will oversee the creation of a menu that specializes in "regional and authentic flavors". Co-owner Tiffanee Ellman says that the Galvan has "experience in restaurants and mercados across different regions of Mexico that will be integral to El Bolero’s cuisine."
