Some nights you just can't decide if you want to go to a tiki bar, a swanky cocktail lounge, or a sports bar. (Uh... right?) This Sunday, all those concepts — plus a pseudo-nightclub and a honky-tonk — will come to life under one roof at Henry's Majestic, and best of all, proceeds go to a very worthy charity.
It's all part of a very imaginative event benefitting Trigger's Toys, a charity that provides toys to hospitalized kids. The Facebook page for the aforementioned pseudo-nightclub concept, the hilariously named Klub Dreemz (which describes itself as a "sexi" Eastern European-style nightclub), explains the event thusly:
Sixty five of the best bartenders from around Texas were drafted onto five bar teams for the ultimate pop-up bar experience. Teams were drawn on Draft Day, Dec 1st. Bar teams, themes, and sponsors have been established, the teams were given just under two weeks to fully concept out their bar—bar name, logo, décor, menu, PR strategy, etc. Each bar will serve a short menu of 3-4 cocktails that reflect the bar’s theme and showcase the sponsor brands. The bars [will be] revealed to the public for the first time at the main event.
The concept for the swanky cocktail lounge, the hilariously-named The & And &, seems especially well-conceived; its Facebook page is littered with fantastically over-the-top quotes like "I didn’t steal that recipe, I homaged it," and "It’s not a purse, it’s a bitters-and-herbs satchel!"
The other concepts include The Booty Bar & Half Mast Tiki Lounge, the honky-tonk themed Burning Saddle Saloon, and the sports-themed Red Card. With a staggering lineup that includes notable locals such as Lucky Campbell, Omar Yeefoon, Charlie Moore, Josh Hendrix, Kyle Hilla, Alex Fletcher, Matt Orth, Brad Bowden, Rocco Milano, and Mate Hartai, it's a definite that the cocktails will be top-notch. (Several out-of-towners including Jessica Sanders of Austin's Drink.Well are also making the trek out for the event.)
Tickets for the event, which takes place this Sunday, December 14 from 8 p.m. to midnight, are a mere $20 inclusive of two drink tickets, with all the funds going directly to the charity.
