Food & Wine has just launched voting for its annual People's Best New Chef awards, and three Dallas notables are nominated in the Southwest category: Matt McCallister of FT33, Omar Flores of Casa Rubia/Driftwood, and Brian Zenner of Belly & Trumpet.

Unlike, say, the James Beard awards where the winners are chosen by a panel of esteemed judges, The People's Best New Chef is more of a popularity contest, with winners elected via an online voting system. Winners will be chosen in each of 10 regional categories, and the chef with the most votes will be crowned the overall winner; all 10 will be featured in the mag's July 2014 issue. The Dallas trio certainly faces some stiff competition in the Southwest category, with other nominees including Austin's Paul Qui and Houston's Justin Yu and Andrew Wiseheart.

Voting runs now through March 31.
