Cross your fingers, Deep Ellum: Luscher's just might be headed that way.
Last summer The Grape chef Brian Luscher revealed that he'd be opening a new restaurant, and much excitement was heard 'round the blogs — after all, Luscher is known not only for The Grape's tasty bistro fare (and that killer burger that was declared the best in Texas) but also for the line of hot dogs, Luscher's Post Oak Red Hots, that he sells at local markets. The project was originally slated for a former convenience store space on Gaston Avenue near Baylor, but sadly that was a bust due to parking issues.
Now, in an epic interview with the Dallas Observer's food blog, Luscher hints that he's looking at two potential new spaces for his new project, "one in Deep Ellum that [he] really [likes]." He explains that in Deep Ellum, "only one parking space is required for every 2,500 feet of restaurant or bar space. A quarter mile away, where we wanted to open Luscher's, you need a minimum of 25 spaces."
Recent Facebook posts by the chef hint that the menu at Luscher's might include not only his handmade hot dogs but also some pretty killer looking kolaches. Stay tuned to see where the anticipated restaurant will finally land.
