Kenny Bowers is set to expand his restaurant empire with another Plano restaurant this summer. The chef-restaurateur is planning a second location of Kenny's Burger Joint at Lakeside Market, the swanky shopping center at Preston and Spring Creek that's also home to Taverna Rossa, Mi Cocina, Sea Breeze and Ziziki's.
The new restaurant will be the second location of Bowers' full-service burger concept. Expect a menu similar to the Frisco original, showcasing half-pound, wood-grilled burgers cooked to order with an array of extremely indulgent topping combos such as chili and cheese, pepper jack and guac, bacon and egg or mushrooms and brie, plus sides like gravy fries, cheese fries, chips and queso and fried pickles. (And as with all Bowers' concepts, there will likely be plenty of booze — all of his existing restaurants feature Grey Goose taps pouring vodka at 28 degrees.)
Bowers is perhaps best known for his Addison restaurant Kenny's Woodfired Grill, open since 2006. In 2008 he expanded to the burger realm with the first Kenny's Burger Joint in Frisco; then in 2010 it was back to Addison to debut Kenny's Italian Kitchen. Last year saw his first foray into Plano with the opening of the upscale barbecue spot Kenny's Smoke House at the Shops at Legacy. Look for the Plano Burger Joint location to open in August.
