The number-two rated barbecue joint in all of Texas served its last slice of brisket at the Dallas Farmers Market on Sunday — but don't despair, the barbecue demi-gods of Pecan Lodge will be up and running in their new Deep Ellum home sometime very soon.

The new-construction building on Main Street will be a major step up from the farmers market, where Pecan Lodge existed for its first four years: Not only will there be a patio for eating beef ribs al fresco, but there will also be barbecue's good friend beer — and as City of Ate reports this morning, the new location will also offer dinner service, which is excellent news for anyone who was unable to steal away from work long enough to queue up for Pecan Lodge's limited lunch hours (it was previously open just 20 hours a week Wednesday through Sunday). UPDATE: Per Pecan Lodge's PR representation, here are the new hours of operation for the Deep Ellum location: Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m.-3 p.m and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m., closed Mondays.

Pecan Lodge version 2.0 "hopes to open May 23," says Scott Reitz, although that will ultimately depend on when the certificate of occupancy is issued. For now, the construction fence is still up around the building as workers continue finishing out the space, but passers-by can easily sneak a peek at the future of Dallas barbecue.
