Remember how Wild About Harry's was supposed to open in Deep Ellum last fall? Obviously that didn't quite happen — but the Knox-Henderson hot dog and frozen custard purveyor sends word that after several delays, they hope to be open "sometime mid-summer," possibly by the end of June.
As owner Harry Coley explained to Eater last fall, the Deep Ellum space at the corner of Hall and Commerce streets will function as both a restaurant and also as a home base for their wholesale custard and catering biz.
The original Wild About Harry's opened on Knox Street back in 1996 and gained a loyal following for its ultra-rich frozen custard, which comes in vanilla, chocolate and a rotating selection of other flavors like coconut, coffee, white chocolate, and pistachio, all of which can be had plain, blended up into "concretes" or milkshakes or as a sundae adorned with various toppings; there's also hot dogs including a Chicago-style version with the traditional neon green relish and a few other items like onion rings, chili and chicken strips. But seriously, that custard — and just in time for another face-meltingly hot summer, hopefully.
