Four Corners & Pecan Lodge Are Collaborating on a Beer

Beer and barbecue are an obvious match made in heaven, so it makes sense that the smoked meat wizards of Pecan Lodge and Trinity Groves brewery Four Corners Brewing Co. would put their heads together on a joint project: A new beer called Boss Lady Rustic Red, a "hop rubbed" American amber that will be served exclusively at the brewery and at Pecan Lodge when it reopens in Deep Ellum later this month.

Anyone who's ever met Pecan Lodge co-owner Diane Fourton will clearly recognize her likeness on the label, sporting her signature kerchief, hoop earrings and braids. Four Corners co-founder George Esquivel explained that Boss Lady will be somewhat similar to the brewery's existing Red's Roja, but dry-hopped with a breed of hops that no other brewery in America is using right now.

When Pecan Lodge reopens in its new Deep Ellum digs, it'll have five beers on tap (including Boss Lady and hard-hitting local favorite Peticolas Velvet Hammer), and the Fourtons say they plan to expand that selection when they can. The new location of the number two-rated barbecue joint in Texas is projected to open May 23 according to the latest estimate by the Observer.
