An Italian restaurant from DRG Concepts (Dallas Fish Market, Dallas Chop House, et al.) will hit downtown this fall. D's Nancy Nichols reports that Oven and Cellar will open at the 1900 Elm building in late November.
According to Nichols, Oven and Cellar "will feature handmade pastas and charcuterie, pizza, sandwiches, and wine" in a casual atmosphere. Kelly Hightower (formerly of Kavala, Nova and most recently, DRG's Wild Salsa) is also rejoining DRG as corporate chef, says Nichols.
At this point, it's pretty safe to say naming a restaurant after two more or less random words is a full-fledged trend: There's Stock & Barrel, Nickel & Rye, Proof & Pantry and now Oven and Cellar. (Hopefully there won't be a plus sign involved, at least?)
