Mysterious changes are afoot at Consilient, the restaurant group behind such hot spots as AF+B, Victor Tangos, Fireside Pies and Hibiscus: Hotel restaurants CBD Provisions at The Joule and The Front Room at Hotel Lumen are no longer under Consilient's control, says Dallas Morning News critic Leslie Brenner.
Consilient is — or maybe, was? — co-owned by founder Tristan Simon and billionaire investor Tim Headington, but minutes ago Brenner reported that Consilient "will no longer operate or manage any aspects" of any Headington Companies properties, which include the aforementioned hotels. Brenner quotes a press release as saying that Headington will retain "a significant financial investment" in the restaurant group.
As Brenner points out, this move raises plenty of questions: "Will [chef Michael] Sindoni stay on at CBD Provisions or move over to the Consilient fold? ... Will the Grasslands project continue as planned ... ? ... And finally, what was the reason for the breach?" It's definitely surprising news from a company that seemed to be on a clear path to dominating the local dining scene as of late. Expect updates when more info becomes available.
