On Friday night the winners of the 2014 James Beard Foundation Book, Broadcast & Journalism Awards were announced at a gala in NYC, and Dallas' very own Tim Byres came away a winner. Byres snagged an award in the "General Cooking" category for his cookbook, Smoke: New Firewood Cooking, which was released last April and serves as a how-to manual for everything from pickling to building a barbacoa pit and smoking a pipe.
The 2014 JBFA Restaurant and Chef Awards winners will be announced tonight, but sadly, no one from Dallas is a finalist this year. (For the full list of Book, Broadcast & Journalism Awards winners, head over to Eater National.)
