Lower Greenville's Mudsmith was an instant hit when it opened in January 2013, and now owner Brooke Humphries (Beauty Bar, Barcadia, It'll Do, et al.) is looking to build on her coffee shop success: She's planning additional Mudsmith locations for downtown as well as Frisco, CraveDFW reported yesterday.
Humphries confirmed the news this morning via email, saying that the lease for the downtown location is "signed and sealed"; it will be much larger than the Greenville original, with the upstairs devoted to co-working space. The Frisco outpost is currently in the letter of intent stage, but she hopes to get that wrapped up soon.
So what made Humphries decide to open a Mudsmith way up north in Frisco? "I like the Frisco market and this particular location will be among national and local companies ranging from Mr. Mesero to J. Crew," she says. "It's a small footprint which will look great in a portfolio of the medium on Greenville, large with co-working space in downtown and then small in Frisco. It fits the direction I'm going with the company right now."
