Just in case there were any doubts about Lower Greenville's rapid gentrification — and really, how could there be after the opening of Trader Joe's? — the space that previously housed long-running nightclub Zubar (which shuttered last summer) is preparing to re-launch as an artisanal popsicle shop.
Signage for Birmingham, Alabama-based Steel City Pops is now up and the interior appears to be just about finished; according to Advocate, it's set to debut May 15. As previously reported, the shop specializes in all-natural frozen pops in a variety of "fruity" and "creamy" flavors such as cucumber-lime, hibiscus, cherry sour cream, avocado and peanut butter. This will be Steel City's first location outside of Alabama; a shop in Fort Worth's West 7th district is also in the works.
