Dallas is about to get another dose of the so-hot-right-now Japanese noodle soup ramen, this time by way of Las Vegas. CultureMap's Teresa Gubbins reports that Monta Ramen, which has two locations in Vegas, is planning to open "on Coit Road just south of Arapaho" in Richardson.
Monta — which Eater Vegas has called "perhaps the top ramen joint in Las Vegas" — specializes in "Kurume-style" ramen, Gubbins explains, with a small menu that will feature tonkotsu, shoyu and miso styles of the dish. Las Vegas Review-Journal critic Heidi Knapp Rinella had high praise for the ramen spot when she reviewed it back in summer 2012, calling the soups "exquisite" and dubbing the handmade gyoza "heaven on a plate."
A manager for the original Vegas location tells CultureMap they're currently remodeling the space and hope to open this summer; perhaps it will tide over ramen fans who are eagerly awaiting the debut of Tei-An owner Teiichi Sakurai's Ten at Sylvan Thirty, which won't open until September or October.
