Prepare for late-night meat and booze: Self-described "modern sausage grill and beer garden" Scotch & Sausage will open next Thursday, July 24 in a former law office on Oak Lawn. The menu will feature 20-plus varieties of housemade and locally produced sausages, incorporating proteins from beef and chicken to venison and antelope, plus "several vegan, pork-free and gluten-free options." All will be priced at $8 or less. Other food options include Belgian-style frites with housemade dipping sauces and scotch eggs in both traditional and vegetarian versions. Running the kitchen is chef Trevor Ball, who has tube meats in his blood — according to a press release, his grandfather owns Dallas institution Kuby's Sausage House and he's a 19th-generation sausage maker.
On the beverage side, expect a heavy emphasis on Belgian and German beers and over 100 scotches and whiskeys, all of which can be served five different ways: "neat, on the rocks, old-fashioned, sour or Manhattan." (Bargain boozers take note: There will also be a selection of $5 whiskeys.) But perhaps the most exciting thing about Scotch & Sausage is its late-night hours: It'll be open daily for lunch and dinner, until midnight Sunday through Wednesday, 3 a.m. on Thursday and 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
