Bonchon to Close After Just 7 Months of Wing-Slinging

Terribly tragic news for chicken wing lovers: Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon Chicken's first and only Dallas location is closing after less than six months in business, says CultureMap Dallas. They'll reportedly transform the space into "a more traditional restaurant called Ashwood," which frankly sounds pretty boring.

Dallas diners were pretty psyched about the South Korea-based chain's (which has 20-plus locations in the U.S. and many more in Asia) debut last December, so much so that the restaurant had to shutter temporarily and regroup after being overwhelmed by the initial surge of business. Besides fantastically delicious extra-crispy wings doused in two different sauces, Bonchon also had a surprisingly good selection of craft beer, much of it local, and plenty of TVs making for a sports bar-esque atmosphere. Perhaps it just wasn't enough to draw dedicated wing lovers away from nearby perennial favorite Pluckers? Eater has reached out to Bonchon for comment and will update with any new info.
