Chocolate wizard Kate Weiser is gearing up to debut her long-awaited namesake shop at Trinity Groves in mid-August. Weiser, formerly of Oak Lawn sweets emporium Chocolate Secrets, has been offering previews of what's to come at the shop through various pop-up events over the past several months; build-your-own bonbon boxes can be assembled from an extensive variety of artfully hand-painted chocolates in flavors like orange butterscotch, sweet potato, Ninja Turtle (pecans and caramel, natch), milk chocolate with truffle honey and white chocolate with strawberry and basil.
A recent pop-up at the Little D Farmers Market at Trinity Groves featured Weiser's ice cream in flavors like Ascension coffee with crushed biscotti and lime mascarpone with fresh mint. Per sneak peeks posted to the shop's social media accounts, folks can also expect chocolate bars in flavors such as The Bombshell with sesame seed brittle and The Hula Bar, made with 38% chocolate and candied macadamia nuts, as well as exotic handmade candy bars in flavors like Passion Praline, made with "passion fruit pate de fruit, passion fruit ganache, cornflake crunch and hazelnut gianduja." A fancy-looking eclair/macaron hybrid called the Maclair may also make an appearance.
The shop's website, which is slated to launch August 4, will offer online ordering as well as something called the K-Dub Club, which looks to be a monthly subscription service for chocolate fiends. Best of all, the shop will be open well into the evening hours for post-dinner treats; business hours will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. on Sundays.
