Battuto is Closed to Make Way For a Snuffer's Project

New, 2 comments

Morning show hosts Gene and Julie Gates opened Battuto Italian Kitchen in Far North Dallas last spring after their show on 103.7 was cancelled, but now the husband and wife duo is returning to radio: They have shuttered their restaurant to move to North Carolina, CultureMap Dallas reported yesterday.

The space won't be vacant for long, though — the new tenant will be a project from cheese fry pioneers the Snuffer family (who as of last year no longer have any control of the popular Snuffer's chain). Per a press release issued this morning, it will be called Pat's & Mike — rather selective usage of possessives, there — and will be a "comfortable, casual bar and restaurant" that "will avoid the usual hamburger laden menus seen on just about every corner." Just a few burgers will be offered alongside "hand crafted pizzas," Tex-Mex dishes and a "full service bar that will highlight the many tequila and Margarita choices," plus "an extensive list of draft and package beers." Late-night food will be offered daily; look for Pat's & Mike to open this fall.
