TJ's Seafood Market shuttered its Preston/Forest location on Monday after 25 years in business, and it's not keeping its loyal customer base waiting long: The newly relocated store will open Saturday at 10 a.m. at Preston and Royal (near Royal China, in the space formerly occupied by Purple Cow). The restaurant and bar portion won't be up and running just yet, and via an email release this morning, owner Jon Alexis warns that the full seafood and takeout item selection won't be available just yet; the main concern was getting the doors open as quickly as possible. (In the meantime, hit up the Oak Lawn location, which is currently featuring $3 beers daily and a selection of half-price wines Sunday-Tuesday to clear out some inventory.)
Visitors to the new location will definitely notice one major change: A gigantic television hung above the fish case. Alexis explains that it's not for keeping an eye on sporting events; instead, the fish market will be shooting a series of how-to videos for its YouTube channel to show customers how to do things like cook cedar plank salmon or sear scallops. The new TJ's location will open at 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday and noon on Sundays.
