Cake Bar Arrives to Sweeten Up Trinity Groves

Cake Bar is pretty much what it sounds like: a bar that serves cake instead of booze.

If you buy something from an Eater link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics policy.

Cake Bar is joining recently opened Kate Weiser Chocolate in satisfying Trinity Groves' patrons post-dinner sugar needs. Sixteen different traditional, Southern-style layer cakes by long-time baker Tracy German will be available by the slice, from classic red velvet with cream cheese frosting to coconut, caramel and pineapple upside down flavors. The menu will also include pound cakes and quick breads — think flavors like zucchini, maple bacon and banana nut — cookies and ice cream, plus banana pudding and bread pudding.

Beverage options will include coffee and espresso drinks, tea, soda, juice, and cake's other best friend, milk. And while there won't be any alcohol served, the shop will be featuring items by The Jelly Queens, an Austin-based jam, jelly and sauce company that features beer, wine or champagne in each of their products.

Everything can be eaten on the spot or taken to-go, and custom decorated cakes will also be offered. Located right next door to fellow sweets purveyor Kate Weiser Chocolate, Cake Bar will be open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m.-6 p.m.
