Matt Pikar Shutters Afghan Grill, Focuses Efforts on Nora

Afghan Grill is gone for good, but at least we still have Nora.

Matt Pikar has closed his six-year-old North Dallas restaurant Afghan Grill. Via an email statement from Lower Greenville sister restaurant Nora: "With much careful thought and consideration, Matt Pikar has decided to close Afghan Grill and focus all of his time and energy at Nora Restaurant & Bar. The lease was going to be up in a few months and he has decided to close a little earlier. He wants to thank everyone who supported and dined at Afghan Grill during the past 6 years."

It's truly unfortunate news for North Dallas residents who've made Afghan Grill — which is an Eater 38 resident as well as a D Magazine Top 100 restaurant — a regular destination over the past several years, but it's not all bad: Most of Afghan Grill's menu is also available at Nora, which has the added bonus of that killer rooftop deck and a fantastic cocktail menu. Beginning Friday, Nora will be open for lunch and dinner six days a week (closed Mondays) from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and reopen for dinner from 5-10 p.m.
