Matt McCallister, the chef and owner behind Design District darling FT33, has finally revealed his highly-anticipated and oh so hush hush new restaurant concept. Casual Southern eatery Filament will hit 2626 Main St. in Deep Ellum this Spring. The restaurant "will honor simply prepared ingredients of the South," with both approachable and unexpected dishes, according to a press release.
As for the booze, a horseshoe-shaped bar will seat 24 and feature 100+ bottles of wine, craft beer, and seasonal drinks with a southern tilt (Sazeracs, Juleps, and such) curated McCallister's biz partner/mastermind behind FT33 beverage program Jeff Gregory.
On the design side of things, expect an industrial feel with brick walls and exposed wooden beams as the space was originally a machinist shop in the 1900s, and the plans are to capture that feel, such as their new website does.
