Restaurant group Fork It Over — AKA the folks behind Velvet Taco, Whiskey Cake, and Mexican Sugar — has a new concept in the works for Addison. Blogs EscapeHatch and CraveDFW both report that Ida Claire, a "Southern gastropub," is going into the old Truluck's space on Belt Line Road.
Per Addison City Council, the new concept will also feature "an extended patio and robust landscape redo" and is slated to debut "early next summer." A LinkedIn job posting for a general manager offers a few more tidbits on Ida Claire:
Think "Southern Gastropub". Intriguing, innovative upscale to fine dining restaurant, bar and garden. Offering slow weekend brunching or meeting for business and happy hour. Our menu will be inspired by those that Cook with Love, and will highlight twists on Southern classics and showcase Lunch, Supper and Brunch. Refined beautiful cocktails; but simplistic in nature. Our staff will be polished, congenial and well mannered. Think Southern Hospitality with a twist; southern charm with a rebellious side.
If since-deleted renderings posted to Facebook by design group Plan B several months back are to be believed, the original plan for the space in question was actually a combo Velvet Taco/barbecue place.
Fork It Over clearly has intentions of building a massive restaurant empire, recently opening a Velvet Taco in Chicago as well as a Whiskey Cake in San Antonio. Eater has reached out to Fork It Over for more info; stay tuned for more info on Ida Claire.
