Matt McCallister's Filament Inches Closer to Opening in Deep Ellum

And the food looks killer.

Filament/Facebook

Brace for the arrival of Matt McCallister's Filament: The highly anticipated, more casual sibling to FT33 snagged its certificate of occupancy yesterday at 2626 Main Street, meaning an opening date is likely just around the corner.

While a menu has yet to surface, press materials for Filament have stated that the new Deep Ellum addition intends to "honor simply prepared ingredients of the South." A few photos posted to Facebook give a tasty indication of what, exactly, that might translate to:

Menu R&D!!! Hot Catfish, Dill Pickle, Horseradish Ranch, Pullman Loaf. #eyelidsweats #filament #filamentdallas #deepellum

And expect some seriously fragrant, smoky aromas from the wood-burning grill:

Jeff Gregory, FT33's general manager and sommelier, is also managing partner at Filament — so expect very good things from the Southern-influenced bar program. Cody Sharp, formerly of The Standard Pour and Casa Rubia, will lead the kitchen.
