UPTOWN – Next year. Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse will open a brand new Dallas location in Uptown. The restaurant will anchor the 20-story luxury office and retail tower that is currently under construction at McKinney & Olive. According to a press release, the longtime North Dallas location of Del Frisco’s will close its doors when the new Uptown restaurant opens in Fall 2016. [EaterWire]
SCANDAL WIRE – A shadowy Dallas food blogger who writes at DallasFood.org as “Scott DFW” has made national headlines with an expose on Mast Brothers, a supposedly “artisan” chocolatier based in New York City. In a four-part investigation, Scott DFW reveals that Mast Brothers isn’t quite the “bean-to-bar” chocolatier they advertised as they really sold bars of commercially-produced chocolate that cost $10 each. You can find the full expose at DallasFood.org, and it’s a pretty riveting read. [DallasFood.org]
COCKTAIL WIRE - If your own mixology skills leave a little (or a lot) to be desired, you can learn the basics from one of the best next month at Parliament. The Uptown bar will host its second Mix Master class on January 17, where expert barman Eddie “Lucky” campbell will provide a “comprehensive overview of mixology” and “highlighting the most influential styles of cocktails through five distinct recipes,” including the bar’s signature Ramos gin fizz. The 3-hour class will cost $95, and include a welcoming reception with hors d’oeuvres and (of course) plenty of cocktails. Buy your tickets here. [EaterWire]
