Hey look, yet another fast-casual burger place is headed this way. BGR: The Burger Joint is gearing up to open at 3001 Knox Street, in the strip center that's also home to Fadi's and Trailercakes. (It takes over the spot previously occupied by Farnatchi.) The "unofficial" Facebook page for the new outpost predicts an early June opening.
BGR specializes in dry-aged Prime beef burgers cooked over an open flame. The build-your-own construct offers the usual array of add-ons like bacon, various cheeses, avocado, and fried eggs, as well as grilled pineapple and a fancy-sounding roasted mushroom topping with black truffles. Other protein options include housemade veggie patties as well as turkey, grilled chicken, and ahi tuna, plus fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings that can be gussied up with parmesan and rosemary. (Interesting side note: BGR is in the process of being acquired by Chanticleer, the same corporation that purchased John Tesar's now-closed Spoon Bar & Kitchen with intentions of spinning it off into a fast-casual concept.)
BGR currently has around 20 locations, most of them clustered in the Virginia and Maryland area. Stay tuned to see whether BGR can carve out a niche in Dallas's already-crowded burger landscape packed with fast-casual chains like Hopdoddy, Twisted Root, Five Guys, and Smashburger, not to mention one-offs like the new Dugg Burger in Casa Linda.
