1) LAKEWOOD—Lovers Lane lobster roll purveyor Rex's Seafood is taking over the building at Mockingbird and Abrams vacated by Genaro's Mexican Cuisine. Expect a full bar as well as a small fish market component, says Advocate; it's slated to open in May. Also in the works for Rex's is a location at the Dallas Farmers Market.
2) LAKEWOOD—Breakfast and late-night standby Buzzbrews is gearing up to open in the large building at Skillman and Live Oak previously occupied by giant cinnamon roll hawkers The Mecca (and before that, Molly Maguire's and the Tipperary Inn). Expect a soft opening sometime in March, says the Dallas Morning News. Buzzbrews will also open a new location in Victory Park next year.
3) LAKE HIGHLANDS—A certificate of occupancy has been issued for Crisp Salad Co. at the Shops at Park Lane. This will be the second location for the salad emporium; the first opened on Lowest Greenville at the end of 2013 and specializes in build-your-own salads with various proteins and housemade dressings.
4) WEST 7TH—Frisco's moonshine-heavy restaurant concept Mash'd will soon open a second location in Fort Worth's trendy West 7th district. The menu is a mishmash of basically every widespread culinary trend of the past several years, including shishito peppers, Sriracha wings, bulgogi tacos, and a beet and goat cheese salad, as well as seafood boils, beer cocktails, and moonshine flights.
