Temple of fried seafood Aw Shucks is on a northward expansion tear. The local mini-chain has two new locations on the way: One at 6509 W. Park Boulevard in Plano (near the Shops at Willowbend) and the other at 4710 Preston Road in Frisco, not far from Stonebriar Centre.

Interestingly, both locations are taking over spots formerly occupied by Cedars Woodfire Grill, a local chain that has since been vanquished. According to Community Impact News, the Frisco location could be open as soon as June.

Aw Shucks and its sister concept, Big Shucks, currently have four locations in DFW including both Lower Greenville and Mockingbird Lane. The casual seafood shacks are known for fried seafood baskets, oysters, shrimp cocktail, and crawfish when in season. The restaurants operate on an unusual "honor system": Patrons order and eat first, then tell the cashier what they had and pay on the way out.

In other suburban seafood news, McKinney Avenue late-night favorite Shell Shack is also expanding to Plano: It's slated to open soon at Park Lane and the Dallas North Tollway.
