Few things pair better than beer and smoked meats, and with that in mind Garland's upcoming brewpub project sounds like a winner: Garland natives Cary and Molly Hodson are slated to open Intrinsic Brewing in the historic downtown area this October, promising a holy union of craft beer and craft barbecue.
In addition to brewing its own beer, Intrinsic will also serve housemade sodas and an assortment of guest beers as well as wine; growler fills will be on offer, too. A press release promises "equal focus on barbeque and beer," with smoked meat services being provided by a mysterious figure referred to only as "Pitmaster Tex."
While you'll have to wait till Fall to taste Intrinsic's full beer lineup, kegs of one of their creations will be distributed this summer courtesy of Deep Ellum Brewing Company: Basil Buzz, "a Hefeweizen brewed with honey and basil," snagged the Best in Show trophy at DEBC's annual Labor of Love homebrewing competition held last summer.
