Just in time for Eater Burger Week, Deep Ellum pizza kingpin Cane Rosso and newly arrived burger prince Luscher's are collaborating on a crazy new creation.
As Cane Rosso owner Jay Jerrier explains it, the Deep Ellum staff observes "Hamburger Thursday" at Brian Luscher's new across-the-street spot every week — chowing down on the sloppy Uncle Herky burger that Dallas diners and chefs have quickly embraced — and had been chatting about a possible collaboration for a while.
For the Uncle Herky pie, dough is stretched out and topped with fresh mozzarella, American cheese, ground Wagyu beef, peppered bacon, and caramelized onions. After a brief trip through the pizza oven, it's then topped with pickles, mustard, and Luscher's housemade mayo. Cane Rosso marketing guru Jeff Amador says, "It really does taste like the Uncle Herky... Which means that it is f-cking delicious."
The Uncle Herky is available only at Cane Rosso Deep Ellum, starting at lunch service today until they run out of the necessary ingredients.
