This should be one helluva event for meat lovers: On May 18 Texas Monthly's barbecue vertical TMBBQ is hosting a dinner at Oak by Knife chef John Tesar and acclaimed Pecan Lodge pitmaster Justin Fourton as part of their "Fire & Smoke" series.

From the official event page:

TMBBQ is celebrating the diversity of dining in Texas and Texans' love of barbecue by bringing together one celebrity chef and pitmaster in Dallas for an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime meal. This exclusive tantalizing feast will combine the talents of two-time James Beard semifinalist John Tesar of Knife and Oak and smoked-meat master Justin Fourton of Pecan Lodge for one savory night to remember. Guests will be treated to a private, multi-course, gourmet meal while mingling with the chef, pitmaster, and Texas Monthly Executive Editor Patricia Sharpe and BBQ Editor Daniel Vaughn. Don't miss this rare and sure-to-be-delicious evening that benefits Foodways Texas, which preserves, promotes, and celebrates the diverse food cultures of Texas.

The Fire & Smoke series launched in January in Austin with a collaboration between brisket superstar Aaron Franklin and chef Paul Qui; that event sold out in mere minutes. Tickets for the Tesar/Fourton collab go on sale sometime today, so better stalk this page if you have high hopes of snagging a spot. (Fair warning: They're not cheap at $150 a pop.)
