Henderson Avenue's J. Black's Feel Good Kitchen & Lounge will close up shop forever next month. Per a press release, the bar will shutter exactly five years to the day from when it opened back in 2010.
So why the closure? The email states, "With the resurgence of Lower Greenville the Henderson Avenue location saw a downturn in business, which eventually led to the closing. Manera Restaurant Group is reorganizing its focus and efforts on the J. BLACK’S locations in Houston and Austin, while also preparing to launch new concepts in Austin." The bar intends to go out with a bang, with a two-day farewell celebration featuring "crazy drink specials" planned for the final weekend (May 1 and 2).
The J. Black's name was marred by some unfortunate headlines last summer when founding partner Judson Sutherland, an Austin attorney, was arrested in an FBI sex trafficking sting.
